Experience

At Stonehill College, I tutored elementary and middle school students in writing, reading, math, and science, as well as standardized test preparation and study skills. I also worked with parents to teach study skills that can be used at home. I then worked with a team to present these skills to the Boys and Girls Club and Child and Family Center, both of Brockton, MA. In high school, I babysat and was a nanny for years. I tutored those kids and others mostly in history, elementary math, reading, and vocabulary. I love working with kids and making a positive difference in someone else's life. Helping others learn is so rewarding and one of the reasons why I want to be a tutor. I am very good at finding and creating skills or tips to assist in studying and I love to share those skills! I've taken college level courses in, psychology (various specialties), US history, biology, astronomy, political science, experimental research, statistics, italian, religion, philosophy, film, english, writing, finite mathematics, and others. I took it upon myself during my senior year of high school to get independent study permission, which I was granted. I used that study to teach myself Psychology AP under the guidance of a teacher, in preparation for the exam. During my sophomore year of college, I created a replication of a psychological experiment with a partner. We ran our participants in a laboratory, recorded results, analyzed results on our own. We then wrote a full research paper on our study as well as a research poster for a psychological conference in April 2015 at Stonehill College.
